Sarah Kay is a spoken word poet, a writer, a performer who works with children and entertains large crowds of literary aficionados. I just accidentally discovered her on YouTube one day, and I have been enchanted ever since. Before, when I thought of spoken word poets, I envisioned snooty people, clad in black turtle neck sweaters, looking over the rims of their tortoise shell glasses behind a large carmel latte at Starbucks on a Saturday morning. Instead, I found this wonderful young woman who takes the vibrant nuances of speech and embellishes them in both written and spoken form. If you have not ever heard this amazing poet, I invite you to do so…you will be in for quite a treat. Hats off to the glorious poets of the world!
