You might slip away solitary one day
as the sun sinks low at eventide
or drift away one April morning
as a burst of green returns
to cloak the brown earth
amid the little sprite faces of flowers
painting the scenery
like finicky artists
You might slip away from
a small existence
having learned a loyal language
among the chirps of birds
in the small gusts of a gossamer wind
soaked by the promise of rain
drifting on the edge of clouds
When you go
exalting and free
throw a blanket over the cold and dispirited
set a table for the lonely
touch the shoulders of the brokenhearted
light a candle to our lives
let us hang on to
your determined, strong spirit
even as it soars
beyond where we can touch
This is beautiful, so beautiful
Thank you so much!
My pleasure
touching piece!
Thank you so much, Victoria.

Wonderful poetry!
Thank you, Jennie!
You are welcome! ๐
Another beautiful and thoughtful poem ……..
I love these four lines
‘throw a blanket over the cold and dispirited
set a table for the lonely
touch the shoulders of the brokenhearted
light a candle to our lives…..’
Thank you for the gracious compliment, Pauline.
Reblogged this on John Cowgill's Literature Site.
Wonderful poetry I like a lot
Thank you so much, Gyslaine!
Breathtakingly beautiful, LT. So much to enjoy, the artists and soaring spirit being personal favourites. You’re quite good as this kind of thing aren’t you ๐
Stunning work here, Lana — thank you for sharing what your muse prompted!
Thank you so much for reading and for the gracious compliment, Debbie :- D
Stunning, Lana. How beautiful and serene.
Thank you so much, Diana.
I love eventide, little sprite faces, gossamer… and the last part starting with “When you go.” I’m going to guess the freed spirit has crossed a barrier to either death or Nirvana. Either way, the final words ring true. Well done, Lana. BRAVO!! ๐
Thank you, Joan. It will soon be time for those little sprite faces to pop up, my favorite time which lasts only about 2 weeks here. ๐
Moving… yet so hopeful… beautiful poem, Lana! ๐
Thank you so much, Iris. Yes, it is hopeful, I tend to write a lot about death because I have lost so many family members, and now I try to see it in a more positive light.
Writing gives that opportunity. I’m sorry to read of your loss but glad your attitude is positive, Lana. Hugs.
Thank you, Iris. Writing does give us that opportunity, and it’s great therapy ๐
You’re welcome. Yes it is, Lana ๐น
Wow, this is beautiful,so soft and tender. Very moving, Lana.
Thank you, Annika. It is good sometimes to look at passing in a different light.
This is so very beautiful, Lana! Serene and hopeful, set but also uplifting – a very fine fabricated poem with carefully intertwined emotions, thoughts and images. I just love it! ๐๐
Thank you, Sarah! I write probably too much about death, and think it does help to portray it in a more positive, hopeful light. I’m so glad you liked it.
I think it is very important to write about death. Our modern society tends to look over it too much, like, if we donยดt acknowledge its presence it canยดt possibly happen, right? I think thatยดs really stupid. I like how the Mexicans deal with it, making such a party, depict skeletons etc. on All Saints ๐
Very true. I think that the Mexicans do an exceptional job by incorporating a celebration of a deceased person’s life….a farewell on a positive note ๐
