I say, let me be your ghostwriter
as tragedy
fills your eyes
illuminated liaison
has brought us here
the Writer of Ghosts
and the vagabond
We inconceivably dream
as mists float
over souls and the soul-less
and we veer toward
the unseen
I see that you have
cut your heart
on the edge of the night
where the burning tiger
also cut his teeth
You look to the
arranger of words
to finish Act One
but perhaps within the chapter
or outside the tome
the vagabond will be free
to move within
the concentric circles of life
and adjust the angles of stage lights
and the ghostwriter
can craft a plot
that echoes
through the ages

The cut your heart on the edge of night and the tiger line were gorgeous images, Lana. You have such a lyrical way of expressing yourself and building (dare I say “burning?”) imagery into our minds. . . hugs xo
Thanks so much, Robin. Hugs back to you, xo π
You certainly have a way with words. I’ve always liked that song.
It surely is a wonderful song, Camie. Thanks so much for stopping by and also for the very gracious compliment!
Sweet sentiment! I guess it’s okay to be a ghost writer…as long as you get paid…ha, ha!
I think maybe ghostwriters are the only writers that do get paid, ha ha!
That’s a lot of what I’m doing now. That’s one of the reasons I haven’t been on WP as much!
I love how you took “ghostwriter” to another level. How wonderful. Beautiful words as always. π
Thanks so much, Diana π
Like “cut your heart on the edge of night.” Glad I did not miss this one.
Thank you, Jo. I’m always glad when you stop by π
Ha, we all need such a ghost writer! Beautifully done Lana!!
Yes we do, Pauline π Thanks so much!
Love this, like liaisons in parallel universes working together to write and produce a story that will echo into eternity. The line about cutting your heart on the edge of night was genius… gives me the shivers. π
Thank you so much, Joan. I was thinking the other day that I needed someone to write something for me as I was feeling a bit uninspired. Sometimes something good will come along, other times it is just words on paper…
And thanks for sharing the video. Brought back memories…
It’s a great song for sure! Thanks for reading, Robert.
Great song, great poem!
Thank you!
Beautiful, Lana! Sorry I’m late to the party, but our weather has been beastly (flooding and thunderstorms).
Thanks Debbie, no worries, I’m always late to the party due to the interference of life π I hope you have stayed safe and dry during the storms!
A great write, Lana! And a wonderful song. Beautiful melody and lyrics. π Happy May! π
Thank you, Iris. Happy May to you, also!
A stunning piece of poetry! That line “cut your heart at the edge of the night” really is just perfect! A line destined to be remembered and quoted! π
Thank you, Sarah. I think the term “ghostwriter” is interesting, so I just thought about where that might lead π
It is a fascinating term! Did you read the book or watched the film by Polanski? I thought it was marvelous!
I haven’t seen it, but I must look it up. Summer is on the horizon so I’ll have more free time :D. Thanks Sarah!
Nice play on ghost writing Lana. And love Lightfoot. π
Thanks Debby! Ah yes, songs like that, they sure don’t make ’em anymore π
