I truly loved this when I first read it and even more so now…I took it to be about life and aging. Works great in or outside of the Halloween/horror story genre. Hold onto this one.
Thank you so much, Oglach. You know, I didn’t think of it in relation to life and aging, but yes, it really could apply. I appreciate your insight in the reading of the poem.
It is never too late to read a scary poem. Congratulations!
Thanks Jo!
Oglach is correct Lana- this is one of your multi faceted poems purporting to be about one thing but maybe really a metaphor for those who lead a life of egoistic discontent…… You are very clever!
Thanks so much, Pauline. I actually just got lucky. It really was a freaky girl at the top of the stairs, Lol! π
So scary. I can just picture the girl! Well done, Lana, and don’t go up those stairs!
Oh, I’m not going up those stairs again, ha ha! π
Wow, a creative and imaginative poem, Lana! Leave it to our own imagination, right? Great writing. π
Thanks, Iris! I’m more than happy to creep everyone out at Halloween time, ha ha π
Why not… it’s only once a year. π π Have a fun weekend! π
Hope you have a great weekend also, Iris π
Just the right touch of spooky … and not a minute too late for us to enjoy it!
Thanks Debbie!
You’re a remarkable writer, and “The Girl on the Stairs” is a phenomenal poem. Thank you, Lana, for your entry. It was truly a pleasure reading it. πΉ
Thank you Poet Rummager for the very generous compliment. I really enjoyed participating. I love scary stories π
Yikes!! Deliciously scary and wonderful sense of atmosphere…
You can’t beat a good slasher poem, ha ha! Halloween is my favorite holiday. I was so sad that I didn’t have much time to write about it this year.

Whoa! Delightful goosebumps all over, Lana! ππ±
I don’t know what it is about me and Halloween and scary things. I just like it. I wish I could be that inspired at other times of the year π Thanks, Sarah!
I can understand the fascination and inspiration this season holds over your creative mind and would find it difficult myself to pull off a a horror or crime novel or anything else touching these genres during spring time! π
