I stepped into
a cove of time
at the edge of
a neighborhood
where down the street
an old lady sang
the finale of her
daydreams
the sky hung close
and whispered
wayward secrets
in this place
of ruins and relics
prompting me
to disbelieve
the promises of architecture
Sure, you can go inside
and search the halls
but whom you seek
left long ago
she made a road
through transparent air
and found herself
far from there
Excellent!
You’re no Zombie
when it comes poetry.
Pleasantly eerie.
Thanks so much!

Thanks, John!
You are very welcome.
Beautiful, Lana. Dust to dust. To me, this was a wistful poem but also with a sense of inevitable serenity. <3
Thanks so much, Diana. xxo
wonderful. I remember that song. that was out before you were a twinkle in your Momma’s eyes.
Well, all I can say is thank goodness for photo filters, LOL. I was extremely wee back in 1964, but I was here, haha. It’s a great song π
Lots of language love here, Lana. “A cove of time” where she “sang the finale of her daydreams” and “the sky hung close” and “she made a road through transparent air.” Sounds like the path to finding your inner self. You follow it but never end up quite where you thought you were going. π
That’s exactly it, Joan. You are such a brilliant poet and you interpret it really well. Perhaps you should have been an English professor. π
Was it just an illusion? The song was fitting. π
It might have been that, Debby π I got that horrible death flu yesterday, what is that stuff and why did it wait until this late to hit us? I hope you are better now π
Omgggggggggg Lana. I don’t envy you! It’s a late flu and quite potent! I hope you don’t have the painful bones that come along with it, or the horrendous cough??????? π <3
So beautiful, Lana! I’m in exactly the same lines in love Joan has highlighted! π
Hope you’re feeling better already and that the flu is gone by now! Hugs! Xoxoxo π
I finally got rid of the flu, now it is allergy season. I’m lucky like that, haha. Thanks so much, Sarah!
Oh no! That’s awful! Allergies truly suck! (Pardon my French π)
They do indeed, Sarah. It might be a loooonnngggg season, sigh! π
