When the girls come out
In red fishnet stockings
A motley drill team
Of mismatched legs
The curtain call
Brings forth their dim-lit days
In a room painted black
Three high kicks
One forced curtsy
The stage unfolds
Under theater lights
Playbill perfection
From February frost
To searing melted nights
Working girls in tights
Another season begins
In candy apple madness
Dancing girls all in a row
Ready……. go!
Spotlights burn down upon
Their undulating steps
“candy apple madness “…love this!
Thanks so much, Holly!
so welcome!
Nice, Lana. Full of innuendo. 🙂
Thanks Diana! 😀
As this unfolded, “When the girls come out / In red fishnet stockings / A motley drill team / Of mismatched legs / The curtain call / Brings forth their dim-lit days” I was picturing the 50-year reunion of a group of Rockettes, candy apple madness indeed! “Spotlights burning down” lent credence to that, alluding to the end of a long career as well as a final (or encore) performance. A fun read, Lana. 🙂
Yes, it could very well be applicable to a Rockets reunion. Maybe also alluding to the seamy side of show business where women tend to be exploited. This chorus line is definitely imperfect. Have a super weekend my friend!
Reblogged this on John Cowgill's Literature Site.
Thanks John, happy weekend!
You are very welcome.
I like “candy apple madness” too!
I think anything with candy in it is good, haha! Thank you, Jo 😀
Brings back memories of chorus lines and variety shows. I remember when pop bands like the Beatles had to share the stage with dancers, comics, magicians, etc.
It is so amazing to think at one time that the Beatles had to share a stage. Interesting time period, for sure!
