Cajun Fest

Who will make the crawfish pie
when you die?
crawfish-99850_1280
Have you asked yourself this?
You will be sorely missed
Not to mention the gumbo
and who will be Bozo?
That spicy colorful cuisine
keeps the figure lean
Or maybe not so,
but we can’t let it go
Nobody can scrimp
while loading up on shrimp
Making a plate haul
with a good ole crawfish boil
Fill up a bowl
with a taste of creole
I really can’t be seen
hiding behind the boudin
Without the etouffee
it’s not the month of May
Simmer the perfect roux
ladle up the stew
What can we do my cher?
But live another day
How do you cope with this
after missing Cajun Fest?

  1. Oh, I am so far from the Southern palette. I have not tasted so many of these foods! Your poems make them sound like a lot of fun though…an pretty delicious!

    • The funny thing is, I don’t really like the food, and although I have a Cajun name, I’m not really Cajun. I was updating the City calendar yesterday and was inspired by this event. I am curious about the crawfish pie though…

  2. I’m suddenly hungry after looking at the image and reading your prose and, it’s only an hour since I had my breakfast.
