One Sultry Summer

The concept of endless

pure decadence

swimming in a pearl sea

one vast starry night

a gypsy reading tea leaves

after the swelter

comes a tropical frost

the mixing of salt and sand

rows of cane bending

write my name in sugar

promises forge between

hostility and peace

the climate caresses

as the sorrow roses

become crowded with blooms

counting carts

loaded with lemons

touch down in late afternoon

magnificent Spain

burnishing in splendor

    • Oh those darn sorrow roses, I guess they should have been magenta instead, ha ha. I am happy to say, though, that I have a short story coming up that doesn’t have an ounce of sorrow in it πŸ˜€

  1. You had me at the photo and “The concept of endless,” Lana. WOW! But “write my name in sugar” was right up there, an inspired line if ever I heard one. I want to go there, count cart loaded with lemons. πŸ™‚
